Ch14-An Early Arrival
As you all know John and Jenny have another baby after they had Patrick. In this chapter, we’re going to see a new life.One day when John was sleeping, her heard Jenny waked him up and told him the baby might be coming. It’s a boy because they already knew from the sonogram. We may think it is an exciting thing. Unfortunately, it is not because Jenny was only twenty-one weeks into pregnancy. The normal time for pregnancy is forty weeks. John called their doctor-Dr. Sherman and he asked John to get Jenny to the hospital immediately. Then they drop Patrick off Jenny’s friend’s house and left Marley to stay at home.They went to the hospital. After checking by the nurses, they told John and Jenny that the baby wants to come out. However, after several tries, the baby didn’t come out. Therefore, Dr. Sherman asked Jenny remained hospitalized for the next twelve days. John did his best to hold everything together- parent to Patrick, the feeding, meals, bills, housework, and so on. Poor Marley still kept up his end of their relationship and never letting John out of his sight, even as John ignored him. One night, after getting Patrick slept, John sit down and took a rest. Marley walked to him and wanted to play with him, but John was too tired to play with Marley. John can feel that Marley try to figure out why he doesn’t want to play.John told Jenny that everything was under control; however, she found that it is not true because Patrick’s clothes are up side down. You can image what’s happened. Jenny was so angry and she began working the phone from her hospital. Several days later, John’s aunt went to help them. After Jenny coming back home, she needed to remain in bed if they wanted to deliver a healthy baby. For safe, the hospital technician came and inserted a catheter into Jenny’s thigh to help they can registered the baby’s heartbeat and any contraction. Finally, thirty-fifth weeks later, they have their new baby named Conor Richard Gorgan. They are so happy about this new life.
Ch9-The stuff Males Are Made Of
Because Marley hurt himself, they decided to take him to see a doctor. They found a good and young one-Dr. Jay. The doctor suggested John and Jenny to seriously think having Marley neutured. John was not sure about the surgery because Marley need to cut his balls off. Jenny thought it need to do it because it is nasty. After seriously thinking, they decided to ask Dr. Jay to do this surgery. Then, Marley became a changed dog.
I think the surgery must be hurt. I just think about that this surgery may let the male dogs lose their confidence. Because I do not have a dog before, if there is anyone could share his/her experience, I will be appreciate.
Ch8-A Bottle of Wills
When Marley was six months old, John and Jenny thought they need to send Marley to the training school because he was so anxiety. They thought he need a professonal help from the school. When they send Marley to the school, he was so happy to meet the other dogs; as a result, he could not listen to the instructor and not under control. The instructor asked them to take Marley to other school because he thought that he could train Marley to a controling dog. John was so angry and decided to train Marley by himself. After the step by step, Marley could understand John’s words and do the good actions. John was happy because he let the dog know how is the master.
One day, Jenny says Marley makes a mess in the garage and he may eat some danger gas or things. John looks the wall is very dirty and Marley has some blood near the floor. He knew somehing wrong.
In this chapter, we all understand that Marley is so naughty; however, John has patience to train Marley. I think you need to have a lot of patience to take care of the pets. I also look forward what happen to Marley in the next chapter.
Ch7-Master&Beast
In chapter 6, you all know that John and Jenny lost their baby before delivering. When John was awaking, he always found that Jenny was crying; however, she always said she was all right. Although John was also sad, he tried to make Jenny feel better. So John took Jenny to the beach with Marley, he thought she might be better after going out. When Joho played with Marley, Jenny just sat on the bench and watched them.
John played the stick with Marley and tried to tease him. John threw the first one to Marley and he got it in his mouth; then John tried to throw another one and Marley wanted to get it; however, John did not throw out and just made a pose. Marley run and tried to find that, but he could not find it. John laught so loudly and said “that’s why you are the beast and I am the master.” He turned around seeing Jenny and he saw she was laughing. John thought his wife got better However, John was wrong. When he waked up in the next morning, Jenny was still crying. John knew he failed; she was still sad.
A couple days later, John went to buy some flowers for Jenny and hoped she could get better. He took Marley with him and told Marley he was sad about this thing. Marley just felt happy going outside. John bought a lot of flowers but he was afraid of putting the flowers with Marley in the back seat. However, he still did it because he need to put the big things in the back seat. When he got home, he found that Marley ate the flowers. He was so angry about this; however, when Jenny saw this situation, she laught loudly and looked good.
The next morning, when John waked up, he was so happy because Jenny slept like a kid and did not cry.
I know that it is uncomfortable for both Jenny and John, and they both need a period of time to get used to it. John tried to be a man to take care of his wife and hid his sad. He is so sweet doing this for his wife. Fortunatly, it is good for them to have Marley be with them. I already know that Jenny will be good under John’s care and Marley’s accompany. See! They did it!
Ch6-Matters of the heart
Time pasts so fast, Marley grew up so quickly and he was five old mounth after John and Jenny had him. Now he was not a puppy anymore; he could bite everything he wanted. His teeth could bite a brand-new leather shoe in a short time and his posture looked like a little bear. John and Jenny are so happy because they have a health and strong dog.
In this Chapter, John also mentioned that the community where they lived. It is not safe because they found a bullet hole on the window of their seat when they went to the restaurant one day. It was so dangerous for their lives; however, they felt that they became safer after Marley grew up stronger. Therefore, Marley could scare the bad people.
The most important thing is that Jenny was pregnant and they were so happy to share this news with others. She tried to do exercises and have the health meal with vegetables and fruits. She did whatever she could do to protect her baby’s health. One day Jenny took the sonogram and examination and John brought a black videotape to record their baby’s first image and heartbeat; therefore, they went to the hospital and saw the doctor. The doctor found that the baby’s heartbeat was differenet with the normal baby, and the doctor tried several times to check it; however, he still told John and Jenny the bad new,”the baby was died.” They were so sad, especially for Jenny. When they went home, Marley seemed like he knew everything and he accompanied with Jenny.
It is so sad to know that they lose their first baby. I can understand that Jenny is the saddest person because she is the mother and she may feel that she has the most responsibility . I hope she can feel better as soon as possible. I know she will be because she has Marley now.
Ch5-The test strip
John and Jeeny loved Marley very much and enjoyed in being with him. Wherever they go, they would take Marley toghther. Because the different life with Marley, John and Jenny decided that stop doing birth control. After a few weeks, Jenny suspect that she became pregnant and then she told John about this news. Therefore, they went to the Pharmercy store to buy the test strip. Fortunately, it is true and they were going to have a baby. What’s Marley’s feeling? He was wiggle, head bobbing, tail banging, and doing the Marley Mambo. He is happy, too.
It is so cool that Jenny became pregnant after Marley’s coming. I think that Marley not only changed their life but brought lucky for them.
Ch4-Mr. Wiggle
After bring Marley home, John played a lot of games with Marley everday. When Jenny came home from Disney World, she also paid a lot of time with Merley.
Time past, Marley became bigger and bigger. He ate a lot and quickly. Most of time, he gnaw the shoes, newspapera and so on in the house. He also wiggled his tail to break everthing and made a mess in the house; however, John and Jenny still like Marley. When thier friends came to visit them, they would say, “Your house is already baby-proofed!”
A few weeks later, John and Jenny tried to take turn in taking care of Marley. Jenny would came home with Marley during the lunch and John would take a walk with Marley after dinner time. After a while, they found Marley become stronger and they decided to train him, as like stay, sit and so on.
However, something happened. They found Marley Marley started scratching and would not stop.he fould out there are fleas between his toes and under his collar and burrowed inside his floppy ears. Then Jenny bought a lot of medcine and bath shower for him. They tried to do their best for helping Marley, and finally Merley recovered because of the good attention.
It is good to see that Marley became bigger and stronger. I also can understand why John and Jenny try to take care of Marley as best as they can do. I think it is because they treat Marley as their own kid.
Chapter 3- HomewardBound
It is time for John and Jenny to bring their new dog “Marley” home. Before this, John wanted to find out the information of Labrador retrievers. He found a lot of information form American Kennel Club and he realized that Labs are bred as working dogs and have boundless energy. Actually, Labrador retrievers are nit easy to control if you breed them after three years or more. Suddenly, John was thinking about that dog’s parents may be the future temperament of the puppy; however, he just remembered he did not meet Marley’s father at the night they picked out him. Marley’s mother has a good disposition; therefore, John hoped that Marley is like his mother.
Before the day that John and Jenny were to bring their new dog home, Jenny’s sister asked her to spend time with her family in Disney World for three days; however, Jenny is worried about this because she could not go to bring Marley home with John. But John asked Jenny to be with her sister, this is because he had his own thought-he wanted to be the dog’s head master when he got alone with Marley and without her wife during the three days.
When he went to pick up Marley, he was surprised at Marley’s size which is two times bigger than they met at first time. After going home, John tried to let Marley sleep along in the garage; however, he can not stand the crying voice form Marley; as a result, he decided to bring the puppy to his bedroom and then they both fell asleep at the same time.
After reading this chapter, I like this book more. The information of Labrador retrievers is very completley. The related condition between the author and the puppy is so touched at the beginning; therefore, I am looking forward what will happen to the author and Marley in the next chapter. I really like this book and highly recommend it for everyone.
Chapter 2- Running with the blue bloods
It’s time for John and Jenny to choose a name for their first dog; however, it is such a big thing for them to decide. At the beginning of discussion, they really have different opinions about the dog’s name, so they have a huge fight when they are on the drive homw from the dog’s house. John thinks that the names which are chosen by Jenny are so feminist screed and Jenny thinks that the names which John says are so stupid. They do not agree each other’s names. Suddenly, they hear the song which is sang by Bob Marley from the radio and then they fall in love again. At the same time, they shout the name “Marley.” Therefore, they have the same thought with the same name.
I think it is really difficult to choose a name for the pets. Actually, it’s also difficult for me to choose a name for my dolls. I think it is normal to have a fight for them. Fortunately, they finally have the same idae of the name. I look forward the next chapter and hope they will have fun when they really have the dog.
Group Reading – Marley & Me
The name of the book: Marley & Me
In the preface, the author (John Grogan) has mentioned the dog (Saint Shaun) which is his honest friend to him in his childhood. John talked about how his father and he choose the dog from a farm. His father also taught him to pick a dog which is not timid, so he asked the author to try rattling the cage and see which ones aren’t afraid. This is the way of choosing a perfect dog and then they picked Shaun which is a smart and affected dog. His family and he adored this dog; however, the dog became old and died. Although they felt sad, they have still to continue their life. After many years later, John grows up and married Jenny. They were just beginning their life together. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. After killing the plant which be nurtured by the author’s wife, they try to have a puppy in order to training the “Baby Thing.” Jenny found there was news that is about the Pets-dogs in the newspaper, and then she try to persuade John to buy a dog. Therefore, they met the cute dog-Marley and then they start changing their original lives.
